- If you are to choose your top 3 difficult-to-follow computer ethics commandments, what are these? Explain why.
If I am to choose top 3 difficult-to-follow computer ethics commandments
these are as follows :
6. Thou shall not use or copy software for which you have not paid.
7. Thou shall not use other people’s computer resources without authorization.
I think these two commandments talk about "copyright" issues. Some of the softwares needed in our course that we are taking are too expensive and the school had only few of them bought and copyrighted, so in order for me to cope up with what our course needed I installed some of it on my Laptop.
I do know that it's a crime because I didn't pay it and I am not authorize to use it also. I had an option to choose opensource softwares which are also similar to that expensive softwares but some features are not present on
it, so I still prefer to use the expensive one and have it installed on my Laptop without authorization and copyright.
9. Thou shall think about the social consequences of the program you write.
I believe it's hard to deal with what people will do in a program I am to write, for instance, a social networking site. I know that it can be used in bullying, malicious posts or comments and other computer related crimes even if my intension is good and not to be used in crimes, still there might be someone who will try to.
- Suppose you are to add 2 more commandments to the existing 10 commandments of computer ethics, what are these? Are these 2 new commandments of equal importance to the existing ones? Discuss.
1. Thou shall use a computer to promote good things.
- Computers should be used only for good things not for destructions of ones life or property.
2. Thou shall not use a computer to destroy our environment.
- Computers are also used to control nuclear weapons and other weapon of destructions in which eventually will destroy our environment.
I think these 2 new commandments are of equal importance to the existing ones since it also promotes goodness and proper usage of computers.
- What is ransomware? Which of the 10 computer ethics commandments is/are violated by ransomware?
Ransomware is a type of malware used for data kidnapping, an exploit in which the attacker encrypts the victim's data and demands payment for the decryption key. A ransomware program can be installed from an e-mail
attachment, an infected program, or a compromised or malicious Web site.
Malware used for this purpose is sometimes called a cryptovirus, cryptotrojan or cryptoworm.

Module 4
How often do you make an effort to practice your strengths and virtues? (A virtue is a trait you cultivate. Ex: patience, generosity kindness). Are these traits key to a happy life? Discuss.
As much as possible I make an effort practicing my strengths and virtues, but sometimes I just can't. For instance, when I am in a hurry trying to finish something like assignments, exercises, quizzes, etc. and then, there's someone that will intrude without good reason, I really hate it and it makes me feel like I'm gonna blow and lose my temper. I utter some bad words but I try to calm and still find it as a "joke" just to make my day happy ...:-D.
Yes, I believe these traits are the key to happy life. Having these traits practiced everyday will really make everyday like "you have everything and you have nothing". "You have everything" in the sense that you still find a way to make you're life better even in difficult times. "You have nothing" - you feel like you don't have to worry because everything has a solution.
For some, happiness relies on money. In some cases, hacking means money. Would you do hacking it if its outcome is a sure happiness of your family? What particular Aristotle theory contradicts this concept? Discuss.
No, I will not do hacking just to have a better life and happiness in my family. I will raise them with dignity and integrity. I think relying on money for happiness is not really happiness. According to Aristotle:
Happiness depends on acquiring a moral character, where one displays the virtues of courage, generosity, justice, friendship, and citizenship in one’s life. These virtues involve striking a balance or “mean” between an excess and a deficiency.
Hacking is morally wrong. It violates the ethical conduct of an IT professionals and other computer-related professions.

Module 3
1. "We are all here on earth to help others. What I can't figure out is what the others are here for." - W. H. Auden
I believe the main reason why WE are all here on earth is to help each others and live our life. "WE" from the word itself means that all of us. Everyone needs help in times of trials. I need help, you need help, we need help. I believe no one on earth who does not need a help. But, helping someone without expecting something in return is really a good and noble thing. We should be sensitive enough that others need our help and be sincere on doing it. It really feels great when you helped someone.
2. Ethical egoists think that people will be happiest if they look out for themselves and not concern themselves with others but is this where true human happiness lies?
I STRONGLY believe that is NOT TRUE. Looking for happiness only for your self without concerning others welfare or may feel is not really happiness. How could you be happy if others are not?. I know there's something that will bother you and that is "guilt". True happiness, I think involves everyone. Every actions we do may or may not affect others. In this sense, doing things with good intentions should be of concerned and that is where happiness truly lies.
3. What are the roots of egoism? Where does it come from? What do egotistical people FEAR?
The roots of egoism are pride, desire for control, desire for power and self-interest. In which, I think comes from man's desire to be superior than everyone. Egostistical people fear that they will be surpassed by others, laughed at and fear of failing or not achieving what they want/desire.
